About Us

Utensil was developed as a resource for the entire food system and anyone interested in learning more about it and our incredible food. This was a team effort put together by a lot of individuals and organizations dedicated to the vision of elevating people and the conversations about food and farming.

Project Leads

These two characters may have started this idea brewing, quite appropriately, over a number of plates of food and tasty beverages. Combined with many hours by phone and zoom and text and email and social media, just to keep it fresh!

Crystal Mackay

Bridging the gaps between farmers, food system partners and everyone who eats is a lifetime journey for Crystal.  She is a seasoned communicator, speaker and trainer with a solid reputation for getting the job done with many award-winning results.   Crystal has built her expertise in earning public trust in food and farming with a strong network of great people from across the food system. She has worked as the founding CEO of Farm & Food Care, the Canadian Centre for Food Integrity, and most recently Loft32.

Crystal started her career by working 100 days a year at consumer and agriculture industry events talking to people about food and farming.  She has been featured in over 500 media interviews with mainstream, food and agriculture media.  Honestly she has lost count, but has delivered well over 1000 presentations and workshops too! Now she’s excited about putting that expertise to work to help you achieve your communications goals – personally and professionally.

Andrew Campbell

Andrew Campbell is a farmer, award-winning communicator & passionate farm advocate. With the farm, he and his family milk cows as well as grow corn, soybeans, wheat & hay in Southern Ontario’s Middlesex County. On top of farming, Andrew has become a familiar voice for farmers and agriculture issues in the mainstream media, conference halls & online, pushing the positive stories that farmers across Canada have to share with their non-farming neighbours. He’s received awards that have named in a Leader in Innovation, Champion, Game-Changer & Top Agriculture Influencer for his work through written word, photographs, videos, and podcasts.
